New for 2007 - Inspiring Artists & Friends
Since I
have so many talented artist friends, I thought it
would be nice to start introducing a new artist in
every issue. I know that
you will enjoy seeing their work. This month
features my friend, Laura Nugent of Kansas City. Enjoy!

This is a logo I recently designed for a
new Animal Shelter opening in Williamson County
in Georgetown, Texas. Melanie Sobel, (past Program
Services Director at Chicago Animal Care & Control)
is the Animal Services Director and is heading up
this facility slated to open in Spring 2007.

This recent sketchbook entry includes, among other
things, some ideas I had for a tiered server that I
thought I would like to attempt to make in my
ceramics class at Lill Street Art
Center. I rarely
make functional things and thought it would be
fun...I started working on one the other night and
of course it looks nothing like these...and is much
harder to execute than I had imagined, stay tuned...

Laura and I met while exhibiting at the Winter Around the
Coyote in 2001, space is assigned randomly and
we were next to each other. By the end of the weekend
I had made a very good friend and suddenly I was
inspired to start adding
birds to my paintings.
Laura left Chicago shortly after that and now

"Parade of Animals" - opens at the Amdur Gallery in
Glenview this Friday. I have several paintings in
this group show which features seven artists.
Families are
welcome,
there will even be animal crackers & milk in
addition
to the traditional wine and cheese. A warm event on
a cold night ..and a fun way to introduce your
family to art! Reception time 4-8pm at the Glen Town
Center, 2071 Tower Drive. The show runs through
February.
