FRANCE TRAVEL TRIP SUPPLY LIST

Bonjour Art Walk Friends!
I recommend you bring your favorite and most frequently used sketchbook materials with you to France. Remember you will be carrying supplies with you while we tour and sketch. You may want to bring a pared down travel supply kit and keep additional materials for use at the hotel. We can share and/or purchase items in Nice, if necessary.

Suggested materials are below, items with * are required, those in bold a great idea and the rest are optional. Scroll further down for links to descriptions and purchasing, if you desire.

1. SKETCHBOOKS (bring at least one in addition to the Zigzag Accordion Sketchbook)

• CANSON Mixed Media Sketchbook, 138# 5.5”x8.5” 30 pages (I will bring 3 on this longer trip)
  This became my new favorite on my recent trip to Italy! It’s lightweight but weighted paper.

• *HAHNEMUEHLE The Zigzag Watercolor Notebook
  *Zigzag Accordion Sketchbook (square or rectangular format)

• HOLBEIN Multi-Purpose Drawing Book 5.5X7.5

• KOLO Mixed Media Book 5.5x8.5

2. PENS + PENCILS + MARKERS

• Pencil and Eraser

• * Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Marker Black

• Sharpie Black Plastic Point Stick Pens

• *White POSCA Paint Pen or White Uni-ball Gel Pen

• *Uni-ball Vision Black Rollerball pen

• Kaweco Sport Fountain Pen

• * Markers in the colors you use most often (watercolor and/or alcohol markers)

  • Be thoughtful of the colors you bring, but keep it simple

  • Include sea + landscape colors + people, flesh tones.

  • If you bring alcohol markers, bring a blotter page for bleed through

3. ADDITIONAL TOOLS

• * Binder Clips - To secure your pages when working outside

• Glue Stick or Glue Roller Tape Dispenser - to adhere any keepsakes for collage in your journal

• * 1 Roll of Washi Tape

• Small scissor

• Shape Template(s): square / rectangle will be helpful

• You are welcome to bring watercolors, gouache, etc, for your own use and experimentation

4. METHOD TO TRANSPORT YOUR MATERIALS WHILE WE TOUR + SKETCH

• Lightweight backpack with padded straps

• Pencil cases or pouches to hold your supplies

5. ITEMS FOR COMFORT

• Hat

• Sunscreen + Lip Balm

• Bottle for Water or other beverage
